Ali KASSAÏ KOUPAÏ brings over 31 years of experience in engineering, innovation, project and programme management. As a member of Renault’s Executive Committee, he led the portfolio’s fixed cost and complexity reduction plans. He initiated the transformation of the product business towards electric technologies and new mobility services.
He is an INSA Lyon engineer and holds a PhD in vibrations of rotating machines. He completed his studies with an MBA (Carnegie 05) and a double course on business creation and board membership (INSEAD 22).
He spent most of his career at Renault where he started in 1990 in Research followed by 7 years in the design office before becoming Product-Process Manager for the gearbox. He joined the Product Department where he was introduced to customer research, value creation and the Product Plan. In 2008, he led a cross-functional project to reduce the complexity of the portfolio (-30%). He then managed the Twingo Clio Captur range of vehicles launched in 2012 with an unprecedented level of profitability (€7B in sales). Appointed Product Director and then member of the COMEX in charge of the Product Programme, he undertook the drastic reduction of fixed costs in a period of crisis, while maintaining the electrification of the range.
